Odd but cool graphics
Plenty of themes and costumes
Can get very repetitive
Doodle Jump, at its prime, was the best app on the app store and continues to be one of my favorite games to play on my iPhone. I love games that challenge you to constantly try and beat yourself and that is exactly what this game does for me. Jumping, shooting and getting as far as you can is the game summed up in one sentence! Easy and fun to play.
The game graphics are quite cartoon-like but very smooth. It looks as if somebody had an idea for a game, sketched it out and ended up using those sketches for the actual game graphics–hence DOODLE Jump. From my experience and knowledge, I can tell you that not many people care about graphics on mobile phones or tablets, but instead, the actual gameplay itself. So these odd, sketchy graphics are not that important but are fun and light.
There isn’t a lot to the game so I’ll keep it short and sweet. You’ve got broken, moving, disappearing and exploding platforms that keep you on your toes as you strive to get your Doodle higher and higher. You’ve also got some cool monsters, abducting UFO’s and black holes to stop your progress. And you’ve got jet packs, propeller hats and spinning bones to help you fly upwards faster. Lots to keep you interested for a while. It’s a game with precise tilt controls and plenty of themes, costumes and items to keep you interested while playing. After a while of playing and learning the game mechanics, it can get very repetitive and quite tiresome.
Sound Effects and Music
Even though it can get annoying and repetitive after some time, the sounds of the game are fun and I often look forward to hearing them when I play. The sound of a jet pack or the whirling sound of the propeller excites me because I know that’s something that will help me get higher and it even motivates me in a way.
